Destin Fort Walton Beach

We tapped into a popular current consumer insight to drive tourism

No stretch is more captivating than the sugar-white sand beaches and emerald-green waters that meet along the shores of Destin-Fort Walton Beach. Located in Northwest Florida, the destination is not only an ideal place to unwind and experience total relaxation along a more than 20-mile stretch of beach, but for kids, and kids at heart, to uncover the adventurous side within. The family-friendly locale offers an environment of discovery on land and water for both parents and kids to play and explore. It’s free from the stresses and judgments of everyday life, inviting families to indulge their curiosities

THE RESULTS

An immersive brand experience

BrandCottage helped Destin-Fort Walton Beach elevate the Florida destination by tapping into a current consumer insight. Recognizing how kids do not have access to enough outside activity, and too much reliance on technology for entertainment. Parents requesting ideas on how to creatively play with their children and get them outside. We provided a media platform that supported inspiration and actual ideas for families to have adventures in the destination. There was a unique focus on Media as the Message.

In a partnership with USA Today (the third largest travel-related content provider) we developed an adventure quiz to let families explore curated activities taking into account their risk tolerance and kid’s ages. This quiz then directs to DestinFWB.com where families can browse 360 degree videos, quick tips and real kid reviews to feel even more confident about their chosen water adventure.

Our media outreach resulted in 30.9 MM impressions and a 263% interaction rate with consumers (meaning each user took an average of 2.6 actions within the custom content program).

National Women’s Soccer League player, Sydney Leroux was chosen as the cover influencer. We leveraged her within a cover shoot at the destination, bringing the brand platform to life - devotion to getting kids out on the water to give their adventurous side room to grow.

We worked with Garden & Gun Magazine to co-create their first-ever kid’s magazine based on our mission. “G&G Jr.” encourages water adventure, play and exploration, reaching a new audience–the children of Garden & Gun readers
